Locals is a business that showcases nearby events happening. This app is helpful with discovering new local music acts or fun free activities for college students, families, or tourists.
The Purpose of this project was to create an application that would help us understand the user testing and user research process. In this project, I used Figma for the first time and fully prototyped a functional website and mobile application.
I chose to go with a social platform that helps users dictate how to spend their weekend or getaway trip.
I wanted to create a welcoming and adventure feel for the explorers and the local community using
the app and website. I went with imagery that reflected the community and cool colors. I wanted my icon for the logo to look like a bird like creature to reflect travel and flying around the community. I also blended the location icon four times to the bird body.

The Visual Language is playful with long strokes of lines and dashes to resemble road map patterns and movement. The colors are cool and give an adventurous outlook.
I believe creating multiple logo sketches is an important step to the design process. This method gives me a wide variety of choices to choose from for my finalized logo. This logo exploration led me to creating a lots of variations of birds because of the name choice of "Locals". I've always referred to the birds as locals.
I've also done rigorous user research on my audience and user persona. I wanted definite their user pains and goals when it came to making my business functional and easy to use.
